Mirosław Bańko, Assoc. Prof. at the University of Warsaw, Polish Language Institute, Polish Studies Faculty. Since 2012 head of the institute. Between 1991 and 2010 at PWN Polish Scientific Publishers, first head of Polish Dictionaries Dpt., then editor-in-chief of Polish dictionaries. Author, co-author or chief editor of several dictionaries of different kinds. His interest in the study of loanwords emerged out of earlier research on iconicity in language, in particular on the emotive and expressive values of borrowed words. See WWW.
Diana Svobodová, Assoc. Prof. at the University of Ostrava, Dpt. of Czech Language and Literature with Didactics, Pedagogical Faculty. Since 2012 head of the department and faculty Vice-Dean for Science, Research, Artistic Activities and Foreign Affairs. Her research is geared towards general linguistics, word-formation, lexicology and contemporary development tendencies of the Czech language focused on its internationalization. The author of many studies on foreign language loanwords in Czech, mainly Anglicisms. See WWW.
Joanna Rączaszek-Leonardi, Assoc. Prof. at the University of Warsaw, Faculty of Psychology, Assoc. Prof. at Polish Academy of Sciences, Institute of Psychology. Interests: psycholinguistics, especially dynamical processes in language use, acquisition and evolution. She participates in numerous international and interdisciplinary projects of study of language as a social coordination system. This project on loanwords is an element of her broader investigation on factors co-determining the selection of natural language expressions in cultural evolution, development and coordination.
